    Where the money goes

    A replacement tooth is three separate parts

    This is the part implant advertising tends to blur. A finished tooth needs a post in the bone, a connector on top of it and a crown on top of that. All three are in the $3,995.

    If you are comparing quotes, ask which of the three parts the number covers. A price that only covers the post is a much smaller number and a much larger bill later.

    Some mouths need work before an implant can go in. We would rather you read that here than hear it for the first time in the chair.

    The consultation exists to tell you the truth

    An implant is a screw in living bone. It works beautifully when the bone is there to hold it, and it fails when it is not. That is the whole reason we look first and quote second.

    At the consultation Dr. Hardin checks:

    • How much bone you have where the tooth is missing
    • Whether the gap has closed and the neighbouring teeth have drifted
    • The health of your gums around the site
    • Your bite, and how the new tooth would sit in it
    • Whether anything has to happen first, and what that would cost

    You leave with a written plan and a number. If an implant is the wrong answer for you, we will say so and talk about a bridge or a partial instead.

    The timeline, honestly

    This is not a one-visit tooth

    Implants take months, because the bone has to grow around the post. Anyone promising you a finished tooth next week is describing something else.

    Placing the implant

    Done in this office by Dr. Hardin, with local anesthetic and sedation if you want it. You are not sent to a specialist across town.

    The bone fuses to the post, which is what makes implants last. Once it has healed we attach the abutment and take impressions for your crown.

    3 to 6 months

    Your crown goes on

    Shaded to match the teeth beside it and fitted to your bite. From that point you brush it and floss it like any other tooth.

    • You are missing a tooth, or one is failing and has to come out
    • Your gums are healthy, or close enough to get there
    • You have enough jawbone, or are open to a graft to build it
    • You are not a smoker, or you are willing to stop while it heals

    None of this is a diagnosis. It is the shortlist we run through before the scan tells us for certain.

    Who places your implant

    Dr. Jordan Hardin, DDS

    A Fellow in Implant Dentistry who places implants start to finish in this office, so the person who plans your case is the person who does the surgery and the person who fits the crown. He earned his DDS at the University of Nebraska College of Dentistry and was recently nominated as a top 10% dentist in the country.

    Before you book

    Questions we get about implants

    Does it hurt?
    The placement is done under local anesthetic and you do not feel the surgery. Afterwards most people describe soreness like a tooth extraction for a couple of days, managed with over the counter painkillers. Sedation is available if the idea of it makes you anxious.
    Why does it take months?
    Because the jawbone grows around the titanium post in a process called osseointegration, and that is what gives an implant its strength. Rushing that step is how implants fail. You are not without a tooth the whole time, and we talk through the options for the gap during healing.
    What if I need a bone graft?
    Then you need one, and we will tell you at the free consultation along with what it costs. A graft adds time and cost but it also makes the difference between an implant that lasts decades and one that does not hold.
    Will my insurance cover any of it?
    The $3,995 is a flat cash price and insurance cannot be applied to it. Some plans do contribute to implant treatment at standard fees, so if you have good implant benefits, bring your card to the consultation and we will compare both routes with you.
    How long does an implant last?
    With healthy gums and normal hygiene, implants routinely last decades. The crown on top may need replacing at some point, in the way any crown does.
    Do you send me somewhere else for the surgery?
    No. Dr. Hardin places implants here, in this office. Planning, placement and the final crown all happen in the same building with the same team.
